A Collection of Elementary Math Activities

Everyone learns differently and what may work well for you, might not work well for your classmates and friends. Luckily there are a lot of different places you can learn from. You have your school and your parents, but there are other places to look for information on your own. The library offers books and references that you can use for free, but there are only certain hours you can go and you would need a chaperone. If you have internet in your home, your computer may be a better option. The internet is one of the best resources you can use to find fun and new ways to learn. Plus, if you have been taught to use the internet, you can play, read and research on your own online!

If you know how to use the internet on your own, you know there are rules when searching online. First, make sure you ask your parents before you log on. Check with them to make sure you have permission to go online and research. Remember to not click on anything inappropriate and to be private with your information. Do not give away your name, age, address, phone number or any other personal information your parents would not want a stranger to know. The internet can be a fun place, but you need to make sure you practice going online safely. Just like in real life, you should not talk to strangers online, especially because they can pretend to be anyone.

Once you have permission to go online, you can start researching your homework and for fun things like games. There are plenty of links below to get you started, too. Luckily, there are a lot of sites online that are a lot of fun and will help you in class. Imagine playing a game to learn, instead of hearing another lecture from your teacher. There are math games where you can see how fast you can add and ones with stories about numbers. Science games are even cooler. You can learn about everything from space exploration and designing a satellite to crime scene investigation! There are online games for English that are a whole lot of fun. You can read a choose-your-own-adventure, or have it read aloud, while watching it happen. If you like exploration stories, you will love the history and social studies games. There are games of every time period with adventures around every corner.

Remember, there are many different ways of learning. If you are having trouble paying attention in class, you may want to try a different style. Try out a few games in a subject you usually do not do as well in. You may be surprised how much you enjoy it and you might like class more later on because of playing. If you see an improvement in your grades or work, make sure to tell your teachers and parents that games work well for you. It is important for you to tell your elders how you like to learn so they will add more of that style to their lesson plans. That means you will be able to play games more often and be able to better understand homework and class work. Here you will find games in Math, English, History and Science. Try them out!
